TEXT BY EMAIL - GREAT WHEN YOU NEED TO SEND TO MULTIPLE PEOPLE AT ONCE

Have you always wanted to send out a large number of texts, but are limited to, like 10, numbers per group?  Then, you look into it and see that the only way to do this is to pay for a monthly subscription plan or pay per text?!

Here’s a workaround for this problem. It’s great for places that want to notify multiple people, all at once.  And the best part: it’s FREE!

The trick is that you have to know which cell phone provider the recipient is on. Yes, there is a little homework involved, but once you get this info from your existing members, you will be saving so much time that it is totally worth it.

To send a text by email, simply open your email client and use the following as a guide for the email address you’re sending it to:

  • Alltel: (phone number)@message.alltel.com
  • AT&T: (phone number)@txt.att.net
  • Nextel: (phone number)@messaging.nextel.com
  • Sprint: (phone number)@messaging.sprintpcs.com
  • T-Mobile: (phone number)@tmomail.net
  • US Cellular: (phone number)@email.uscc.net
  • Verizon: (phone number)@vtext.com
  • Virgin Mobile: (phone number)@vmobl.com

You’ll want to keep the subject line empty and only send text.  Sending pictures gets a little tricky and some have a separate email domain for that (i.e. AT&T: (phone number)@mms.att.net; Sprint: (phone number)@pm.sprint.com; US Cellular: (phone number)@mms.uscc.net; Verizon: (phone number)@vzwpix.com).

If you’re going to do this often, you should type your email addresses in an Excel sheet, then do a mail merge with Outlook.  You can type one text in Outlook, mail merge it with your Excel list, and BOOM!  It’s done.
